The text examines the genesis and main characteristics of positive psychology, its place among other areas of psychology. Emphasis is placed on the achievements and importance of positive psychology for modern man. Main topics of research are outlined. Biographical information is given about the founder of the movement - Martin Seligman. Introducing Prof. Rumen Stamatov, Ph.D., D.Sc. - one of the most focused and established researchers in the field of positive psychology in Bulgaria, his scientific work and an interview in which he shares his insights about positive psychology.
