Bulgarian Approbation of the Family Satisfaction by Adjectives Scale (F.S.A.S.)

Abstract

The main aim of the study is to present the Bulgarian adaptation of the Family Satisfaction by Adjectives Scale (by Barraca, Yarto, and Olea, 2000), as well as to find out whether some social- demographic factors would influence the family satisfaction experience. The family is an important social structure that influences society and that is influenced by society that results in the intimate inner world to every person. In this relation, the satisfaction leaves its traces in the people`s emotions which are difficult to be sized up partly because of the transience of the emotions. So, the Family Satisfaction by Adjectives Scale offers a good opportunity to encompass a large register of emotional experiences in a stable time frame. 287 people were investigated in a range of 21 to 60 years of age (M = 36.13, SD = 9.25) from them 191 women and 96 men. The approbation of the scale gave a very strong internal consistency coefficient Cronbach`s α = 0.978. The given through Eta squared index data showed that the social-demographic factors did not influence the family satisfaction and this supports the authors` statement that the satisfaction is a very personal and emotional experience.
